I thought it was going to be a tin of corned beef!

That was my first thought so went to the Coop specifically for the purpose but couldn’t find Fray Bentos Corned Beef only Princes and Coop own brand so had to make do with the pie!

A pie in a can seems perfectly normal to me!

I guess I should get out from behind the cabbage patch more often. Maybe they have something like that here. I don’t know. Of course, there are many things I don’t know but learn from reading your blog. 😉

Only joking – a pie in a can is a bit strange!

Joking? I had no idea. All kinds of things come in cans nowadays. I wondered how a person might heat it up. Throw it upside down on a plate and microwave it? 😀

When I saw the prompt for this week’s photo challenge was ‘Fray’ that is exactly what first came to my mind as well, Andrew. I remember these as a child and I’m sure you had to boil them in the tin to cook them? Or am I thinking about those sponge puddings that you had to boil in the tin?
Anyway, a great response for the challenge.

I think that might have been the steak and kidney pudding but I am not certain!

I love my savory meat pies…but I have to say, this freaks me out a bit! Not sure if I could take the plunge into that can.

Thanks for passing that along! It taught me much more than I knew before about the pie.

Made me ‘laugh out loud’, Andrew 🙂
Once when I was flat sharing in the dew of youth, skint and a rubbish cook (some things don’t change) I sliced the tops of the fingers of my right hand opening such a can. I still bear the scars.

We have all got a Fray Bentos story to tell! I used to despair about those corned beef cans with the little metal key which always snapped off!
