I don’t know about Ireland Sue but In the Cyclades the combination of blue and white is a legal requirement. Since 1974, by a decree passed by the ruling military government of the time (the Generals), houses have had to be painted blue and white, it is said as a patriotic gesture to represent the colours of the Greek flag. The law remains in place although some island authorities have begun to sometimes permit light ochre, pink, and some other pastel colours
Love these colourful doors!

Lovely, I agree. I wanted to capture the yellow one but there was always a car parked in front of it!

Ha! I managed to get a door in Warsaw just as a car drove up and was close to obscuring it…had to change my lens and POV

There was no way around this car unless I had a lens that could take pictures around corners!

Love the doors Andrew. Why is it that in a country which is so friendly and welcoming your doors are always shut?

Interesting point Richard, I hadn’t thought about it that way!

I always wondered why the doorknobs are in the center….

I think knobs look better in the middle. A matter of aesthetics and balance.

So many doors and windows, but it looks like the same floor plan. Wonderful how they make the same thing look entirely different.

All you need is a different colour paint!

Oh, I would love to live in a house with a door like that. No matter what is behind it, just the door!

There’s nothing like a fine door to catch the eye. The green one is my favourite π

The green one is a good choice. Rather classy!

All with the window at the exact spot. Again such bland doors in Canada in comparison.

I wonder if some written or unwritten bylaw insists on different colours. π
