As always I wonder what happened behind those doors over the years. If they could tell their tales.

Photographers always like the run down with character – they are great photos but in a way sad that they are in this state

It is a great shame. The classical Venetian mansions on Syros island are in a serious state of disrepair and it is too expensive to restore them.

Sad but a place to return?

Some places I return to quite quickly but I don’t think Syros. There are so many other islands to visit!

Like Sue, I always wonder what’s behind door, closed to those on the outside. I look at doors and windows like these and want to get out the sander, clean them up and paint them like new. I know they’re rundown due to shortage of money. Still, I want to fix them. Interesting photos, though, Andrew.

No need to go to all that trouble Tess, just replace them with triple glazed UPVC! HaHa

Hadn’t thought of THAT. 😀 Replacing would cost so much more.

Thanks – I really like the door with the bags of potatoes outside the front. Very rustic 🙂
