I stand here in my place,
With my foot on the rock below,
And whichever way it may blow,
I meet it face to face,
As a brave man meets his foe.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I came across this windmill in the coastal town of Lo Pagan in the region of Murcia on the east coast of Spain.
I live near this place and visit the windmill often. A great poem to go with it.

I like that windmill and the walk along the causeway. My sister lives nearby.

I came across a much more ruined version on my recent travels. Thanks for reminding me. 🙂 🙂

Was that in Spain Jo? A lot of them are being restored now.

No, it was up in the hills in the Algarve. Some of them are in a better state than others. 🙂

How will it work though if it has no sails?

It is a good windmill, not working any longer of course, just there for passing tourists!

Reminds me of the Greek Islands, Andrew. And my mother-in-law. 🙂 Helen had quite a collection of Don Quixote(s). –Curt
