Thursday Doors, Évora in Portugal

I like doors (and windows), I especially like old doors, you may have noticed?  I cannot help but wonder how many people have passed through or looked through them and what stories they could tell.  Here are some old doors and windows from the city of Évora in the south of Portugal.

  3. Another excellent set of Portuguese doors, and my weekly reminder of Ron Atkinson and “Early doors”.
I bet there’s somebody out there who actually works out, or makes up, the story of the famous people who walked through all these doors. And then he or she turns it into a blog by telling the story of those people.
I wonder if I can remember that germ of an idea until April 1st.
My favourite picture, by the way, is the one with the two young men lit up. It’s an excellent kick start for a train of thought.

  7. Some lovely old beauties here. Those tiny very unsafe looking little Juliet Balconies make me nervous though.
    Nice collection.

  11. There’s just something about shabby chic doors that people seem to like. They would, however, look completely wrong and bizarre on most houses in the States, where so much is newer.
