What a fun post Andrew. We have a friend with his own beach hut in Devon and are very envious.

On the downside I expect there is a lot of maintenance involved.

There is nothing quite like an English beach hut….

The French might dispute that do you think?

The beach huts in my town (none as smart as your examples) all have names, clever and funny; examples – Romeo & Julihut, Broken Hutted, Helmhut Lang, Huttie Jacques. In fact, you can see some of them on https://travels-with-my-camera.blog/2017/04/02/sunday-walk-on-isle-of-wight/. I would love one, but nowadays they are the same price as a small house used to be. I console myself by thinking that prices may drop soon as children no longer seem to want to dig sandcastles or play beach games by the water, preferring to be indoors with a screen in front of them!

I am always amused by the imaginative naming of beach huts!

There is one beach in Melbourne that has a long row of huts. They seldom come up for sale but when they do they bring as much as a fairly decent suburban house would bring. But they are really quite spectacular.

They sell for fantastically high prices here in the UK too.

Always amused by these beach huts, Andrew. A very British thing, I think. It’s fun that they painted in such bright colors with each one being unique. –Curt

When I visited my home town last year I decided if I moved back to England I would definitely have my own beach hut!

They are so pretty, I’d love to turn our shed into one as a guest room.
