Thursday Doors – Shops in Ireland

“only in Ireland” is a common phrase in the Emerald Isle and it seems to me that this collection of doors illustrates that rather well.  My favourite is the Post Office with the gas cylinders stored right next to the petrol pump…

  2. Oh, not just in Ireland! Where else in France do you buy your gas bottle but at the petrol station? Funnily enough, till you pointed it out, I never found it odd.

  3. I love these! I was trying to work out what else the ‘Angel’ shop sold besides angels. You would never get a shop like that in England, would you? I’ve never understood the Catholic need to display religion.

  12. Ireland remains in my mind as a place dominated by green, so these bright colors are just wonderful. In France also gas and petrol are usually quite close; nothing like it in the States. I’d like to see an apostrophe in Mother Hubbard’s and I’d love to visit the cheese shop.
