On This Day – Tower Of Terror in Trogir, Croatia

While the current travel restrictions are in place I have no new stories to post so what I thought that I would do is to go through my picture archives and see where I was on this day at any time in the last few travelling years.

On 8th June 2009 I was in Croatia visiting the medieval town of Trogir…

Trogir Waterfront

Trogir is about fifteen miles north of Split and is the best preserved Romanesque-Gothic complex not only in the Adriatic, but also in all of Central Europe and inevitably therefore a UNESCO World heritage site.   It was mid morning when we arrived and the town was already very busy.  The old city is built on a little island, only separated from the mainland by a few yards and with access to it over a small bridge.

  1. Such a beautiful bit of the world! I do wish we’d managed to see more of Croatia. 🙂 🙂

  2. Your usual excellent perspectives

  3. it’s somewhere i’ve never considered visiting before, but it looks like a beautiful place

  4. I loved Split – apart from the hordes of Game of Throne fans who were there to climb all over the Palace and sit eating snacks on the steps, so I was in very much ‘grumpy old woman’ mood while I was there. Nevertheless, a truly awesome place, and that’s a word I don’t use very often.

  5. Those stairs sounded like fun, Andrew, and I now have a new definition of an optimist: “During the fatal fall however there would have been some excellent views.” 🙂 –Curt

  6. Interesting photos – it is a wonder that there are any buildings in that part of the world

  8. So beautiful! My grandmother (Baba) was born in Split. I have family in Zagreb, Hvar and in Duba where my grandfather (Dide) was born. I have never been, but have always wanted to go there. Maybe one day! Please take a look at my collection of Croatia themed items, which are for sale in my online store.

  9. Trogir looks beautiful, thank you for sharing. We head off for Croatia this month, our first trip since we had to abort out travels due to COVID-19. We will definitely add Trogir to our list of places to visit
