While the current travel restrictions are in place I have no new stories to post so what I thought that I would do is to go through my picture archives and see where I was on this day at any time in the last few travelling years.
Relatively recently, on 30th June 2018 I was at Hadrian’s Wall in Northumbria.
Hadrian’s Wall was a defensive fortification in the Roman province of Britannia, begun in AD 122 in the reign of the emperor Hadrian and was the northern limit of the Roman Empire immediately north of which were the lands of the northern Ancient Britons, people so frightening that even the normally fearless Romans wouldn’t take them on.
A favourite place of mine. Or several! And I love that tree 🤗💕. Is the pier shot in the original a postcard, Andrew? It’s great!

Yes, a postcard but can’t remember where I bought it except that it was on that holiday in the North.

There’s nowhere with an eerie sense of windswept history to match northumberland and the watches of the wall.

I remember your original post. I was talking to my school friend about the Wall not so long ago. My memory is that we ALWAYS went there on school trips. She says we didn’t and mentions trips to the Farne Islands and York. She’s right – my confidence in my good memory is busted!
