While the current travel restrictions are in place I have no new stories to post so what I thought that I would do is to go through my picture archives and see where I was on this day at any time in the last few travelling years.
On 10th July 2015 I was in the City of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
For several years I have been travelling to Europe and visiting interesting cities but whilst I have been happy to go to Seville and Venice, Prague and Warsaw, Riga and Moscow I have rather neglected to visit towns and cities in my own back yard.
Visiting friends I had the opportunity to visit England’s second city – Birmingham. Some people wonder why anyone would visit Birmingham, it has a reputation for being dull and grimy, when Queen Victoria was passing through the region by train, she allegedly asked for the blinds to be drawn.
Somehow, I’ve never visited Birmingham. I’d actually quite like to, but like most people, it seems, have never actually said ‘I know! Let’s go to Birmingham for a mini-break’.

It is strange that we pick city breaks abroad whilst neglecting our own. Birmingham was a fine place to visit. I have never been to Bath and I aim to put that right as soon as I can.

Do. I’ll exchange your Birmingham for my Bath.https://margaret21.com/2012/01/18/tourist-information-bath-and-beyond/. I would like to get to Birmingham before too long.

I’m the person who always was passing through Birmingham, never decided to visit it, even though, I used to live an hour driving from this city. Maybe, if I would read your post a few years ago, I would visit it after all. Enjoy your weekend! 🙂

If you go back to Birmingham do visit Westbourne House & Gardens near Birmingham University. It is my favourite place to visit in my city.
