Mine is not a food blog but I thought that I might share this one with you.
Tonight I was allowed into the kitchen and prepared a seafood pasta…
Ingredients..
Spaghetti for 2
packet of cooked mussels from ALDI – £1.79
Ten scallops from ALDI – about £1.50
Frozen Seafood selection from ALDI – about .70
Frozen Clams from ALDI – about £1.00
Half a large onion
Little bit of garlic
Homemade Focaccia Bread – about .25p
Sweat the onions and the garlic
Prepare the spaghetti
Add the seafood to the onions
Add the spaghetti
Total cooking time – about 10 minutes
Serve immediately with a slice of lemon and a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.
And a bottle of Primitivo from ALDI – £4.95
Delicious, If I close my eyes I am in Puglia.
I hit “like” out of respect for you liking the food . . . me? Anything other (or more) than lightly buttered and salted, and pasta is ruined.

But surely you eat something with the pasta? Man cannot live by pasta alone!

Not when I’m eating pasta, and certainly not in the pasta. Sacrilege, that is.

You’ve made me hungry now. I bought my Italian relative (by marriage) a bread maker for Christmas and I now get regular supplies of Focaccia and Ciabatta and I always have Primitivo in stock (plus Nero d’Avolo) so I’m all set!

All you need is the seafood mix!

It looks delicious. I was wondering about the amount of onion in the recipe, which is actually an unusual ingredient, as we , Italians, use mostly garlic with seafood pasta. Buon appetito!

Just half a regular brown onion. It seems to work. An English twist on an Italian classic.

Just the one question. What happened to dry January???!

You realise that now, unlike the swimming in your post a few weeks back, you won’t be receiving your dry January certificate!!

It’s become dry February in our house. At the rate we’re going we might manage a dry April… No, it’s not going to happen, is it? 😦 Notice you pushed the boat out for the wine, Andrew. Makes all the difference 🙂 🙂

Dry January lasted two weeks, but this January seems to be going on forever.

You got Peggy’s mouth watering, Andrew. She’s an anything seafood kind of girl. Mussels aren’t a favorite of mine and I prefer clams be cut up and added to chowder, or possibly smoked. Hats off to your culinary adventure, however! –Curt

Were your pots, pans and glasses from the centre aisle, Aldi-man? If I didn’t know better I would have thought this post was sponsored by a German supermarket company! To be serious though – it looks good.

This looks very good. Too bad hubby is allergic to seafood. But I can always make him something else. Thanks!

I like the simplicity, but I don’t like mussels, and, if I’m truthful, I don’t like seafood 😦 Just fish! And not with pasta 🙂 🙂

Looks good. I am a seafood lover. And the Primitivo reminds me of my time in Puglia. I always feel compelled to drink an Italian red whenever I have Italian food, no matter what it is.

This seems at odds with. your just-published post about the joys of the fresh fish market! Looks good though, and I would make it if ‘im indoors would eat mussels. Or clams. Or scallops.

I like the managed markets rather than the dockside. Oh dear, my seafood pasta wouldn’t suit then!

Pasta marinara is lovely, but my favourite fish dish is a paella 🥘 and a good NZ Sav Blanc.

I prefer a meat paella but a seafood risotto.
