I am in Belfast right now and the Irish claim to have begun the Halloween tradition and they used to carve turnips before Pumpkins took over.

I know! We used to carve turnips when I was a child. I can’t believe I have an arm left!

Ican vouch for the turnip carving in Ireland. My father had to do it as they were difficult veggies to carve neatly.
