I started in 2006 with an AOL blog, they closed it down in 2008 and transferred people to blogger. I stayed there for almost a year and then began blogging on WP.
If people haven’t read earlier posts then I recycle them.

I, too, had no readers at first. Back then I wrote some really great posts. I’ve often thought to copy your strategy, Andrew, of re-directing people back to old posts. I have not yet taken the time to figure out how to do it, other than just pop up a link.
