Postcards these days are an endangered species. Apparently we don’t send them any more (true, in my case).

Too true Margaret. See my blog home page and ‘About’ page. I blame the mobile phone!

Postcards are sadly a thing of the past. I am often surprised that I can still by them.

Yes you still see racks of them in tourist spots. I expect the pandemic has been another nail in the postcard coffin as people haven’t been out and about as much. The last few I have sent have been my own photos uploaded to such sites as Touchnote. They are then printed and posted in the UK and usually arrive the next day.

Sometimes it is easy to see that postcards have been in the rack for a very long time.

The phone has a lot to answer for. The writing of postcards could become a bit of a tyranny, but it was fun to build up a collection from friends over the summer months.

I don’t send them but always buy one or two.

Lucky you. I can never find any these days, except in museums and galleries. Which is fine, but no town views.

I got most of these about 4 years ago except for Thirsk which was just last month. Tourist Information shops are one of the best places to find them.

I always preferred receiving postcards to writing them! Now neither happens.
