After the main square we slipped into into the side streets and made our way to the Basilica di Sante Croce, said to be the most beautiful church in the city and it may well have been but unfortunately for us the builders were in and the front was covered in scaffolding. My picture is therefore a postcard.

Lecce is reputed to be a gem of a city. Unfortunately it was the bit we had to drop from our Puglia tour due to limited time. Sounds like we missed out.

Yes, but you can always go back. We missed out on some places as well as a result of timings. What was your favourite in Puglia?

All of it! Loved Matera (not quite in Puglia), loved Bari (as we’ve compared before) and Alborobello, Molfetta and Polignano were all lovely towns. Matera and Molfetta were our bases. You?

Bari, Polignano, Ostuni, Lecce and back to Bari, Would go back in the blink of an eye but I wouldn’t hire a car again.
