My plan is to visit every country in Europe but progress has been slow just recently as I get to think about the less visited places. This year I plan to add Albania and Turkey!
Hi Andrew – Turkey is one of my favourite European destinations. I spent quite a few months there backpacking in my twenties, and circumnavigated the country, spending a lot of time in the east and south-east. I loved it! So diverse, wonderful food and incredibly kind and hospitable people who were very welcoming. Hope you have a similar experience when you get there. I wrote about it on my 50wordsfor50countries.com blog – thanks for having a look at the Barcelona page. I really enjoy your philosophy and writing, so look forward to your future posts. Julie
Awesome thanks for the tips! If you have any questions about Albania I see you’re planning on going soon. I spent a couple of days there, and really enjoyed seeing a different side of Europe tourists rarely see.
I saw your comment that you want to go to Turkey!! You will love it!! That’s my favorite country so far, and I’m expecting Greece will be right up there too!
I’ve never seen this Map app before. I’ll have to figure out how to make one and put it on my blog.
I can highly recommend Jordan if you haven’t been there yet (but be skeptical of anyone who tells you that you can stay in a 5 star tent in Wadi Rum, because the only stars you will see are the ones through the holes in the roof of the tent. . . and you might not be in Wadi Rum, though maybe near it.)
Petra is perhaps the most wonderful place I have ever been.
Oh only Boulogne-sur-mer, Paris and La Rochelle in France? Try Normandy if you get a chance. It is my homeland so I’m a little partial but I tkink you might like it.
Cheers to your travel adventures!
Missed your reply! I know Evreux fairly well although I am from the Caen area. Beautiful medieval city with new neigborhoods rebuilt after the devastating bombing of WWII. Great museums and memorials also.
Small city (in comparisons to the US) but lively with a great university. A good visit for anyone on his or her way to the coast, which in my opinion is one of the loveliest in France. Cheers!
I am always impressed with the way that the French towns were rebuilt and restored after the War. In UK we didn’t do such a great job of replicating the past.
I hope you get to go to Bulgaria one day, a stunningly beautiful country with architecture from various time periods and beautiful nature (caves, mountains etc)
Very interesting blog. Love that you share all the places you have been. I also love the idea of the weekly photo. I would be honored if you would check me out at https://bulldogtravels.wordpress.com/ . .
I see you have visited many places:) you should try Asian countries, it is really eyes opening and very different with Europe or USA. The good things are hotels and food very cheap:)
ha..ha.. yes.. but Turkey is very different with the rest of Asian countries:) I guess… travel destination is what we want. I personally never want to go to USA (never like it) but Mickey loves it there. I love Asian countries as the food are amazing.
How did you get this app?

Malta is brilliant. Go to Valetta and Mdina and be sure to go to on the ferry to Gozo! Malta without the commercial element.
