Life on the Plaza…
There seemed to be strange goings on in the main town square because it was full of men just standing around and chatting in groups of ten or so and making an enormous din as they competed with each other to be heard about the great political issues of the day or yesterday’s football results perhaps. This was obviously a Sunday morning ritual and the street corners and the public squares were overflowing with men of all ages all in animated conversation.
Love the photo! I’m immediately back in countless Italian piazzas seeing it. How apt for a theme of “everyday life” 🙂

I remember seeing this same scene in San Sebastion except the canes were waving – punctuating the discussions and there were a lot of Basque barrets…

Thanks for the comment. When I went to the Basque Country it rained a lot so most of the debating was in bars rather than on the streets!
