On This Day – World Showcase at EPCOT, USA

While the current travel restrictions are in place I have no new stories to post so what I thought that I would do is to go through my picture archives and see where I was on this day at any time in the last few travelling years.

On 20th May 1990 I was in Florida in the USA on a family holiday to Disney World. The first of three. The memory of these visits has mostly disappeared into a blur of credit card debt, white knuckle rides, the quicksand of commercialism and the exploitation by the Disney machine but one experience that I do remember was a visit to the World Showcase at EPCOT.

I’d read that post before.

We’ve been to Epcot countless times. We were planning to go in March of this year, but something made us cancel our trip. Can you guess what?

Well, you haven’t oversold this experience! I hadn’t been planning to go anyway, but it’s very firmly not on the list.

  I enjoyed visiting the parks with my children 30 years ago but have no desire to go back again. I went to Disneyland Paris a few years ago and it was awful.

    We meanly never took ours. We said they could take theirs when the time came. The time hasn’t come.

    My grandchildren have showed little interest. 3 years ago we went to France close to Disneyland Paris and I was terrified that they might pester to go for the day. They didn’t and were happy enough cycling riding horses and visiting real castles. Phew!

It’s great that you have all your photos in order. I’m just starting the mammoth task of sorting out my non-digital ones. Who knows what gems I’ll uncover?

The best in France is parc Asterix, my boys love it. Disney we grew up with living 1h30 in Fl USA upteems times as well as several to paris disneyland but parc asterix is the one that took their attention longer. However, these parks for kids is a must at least once. Walt Disney Orland is a huge property with many parks EPCOT France pavillion lol!!! but they have a similar one in France too we went Futurescope near Poitiers. cheers
